Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell with a Special Screening and Conversation

Join us
on Friday, December 11, 5:30pm EST/2:30pm PST, for a screening of the new and already award-winning SURVIVING THE SILENCE followed by a conversation with the entire cast of the film. SURVIVING THE SILENCE tells the story of two women in love who played a part in changing military policy, shining light on the unknown history of how a closeted colonel forced to expel an Army hero for being lesbian did so in a way resulting in re-instatement via federal court.

How better to mark this important turning point in military policy than viewing some of the history behind the end of Don't Ask Don't Tell and engaging with those who lived it? The cast of the film - Col. Patsy Thompson, her wife Barbara Brass, Col. Margarethe Cammermeyer, 22nd Sec. of the Army Eric Fanning and attorney Mary Newcombe (who represented Cammermeyer during her trials) - will be joined by filmmaker Cindy L. Abel.

Hosted by the Commonwealth Club of California, tickets must be reserved in advance: click HERE to get tickets.

Join us and see why SURVIVING THE SILENCE has been invited to 24 film festivals in 8 countries across 5 continents and 8 awards. Audiences all over the world are inspired and engaging with this love story that reveals how one decision helped shape current-day military policy. Unlike festivals that are geo-blocked to the state in which they're being held, this will be open to viewers across the country. Even if you've been fortunate enough to see the film at a festival, this will be a unique experience, as this will be the first time the entire cast has been available.

Join us in celebrating this 10th anniversary of repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell and the worldwide response to SURVIVING THE SILENCE.
